It appears that virtually every TV commercial contains absolutely no copyright notices on them anywhere. Does this mean they are in fact not copyrighted material? Is there some kind of "understood" or "blind-copyrights" associated with all TV commercials that are in current broadcast. I'm not talking about the ancient TV commercials found on this site. I am specific to commercials currently on the air. Case in point. I noticed that none of the commercials run during the Super Bowl with the exception of I think one, sans NFL spots, contained no copyright notices whatsoever. What is the status of current commercials when no copyright notices exist? Finally, there is a 10 DVD set (30 hours) called the complete history of World War II. There is a copyright notice on the packaging, but there is no copyright notices whatsoever on the product itself. There are no end credits, no opening credits and no mention of who is narrating or anything at all. All of the material on these DVDs comes from none other than public domain materials. Is this perchance the re-edited and/or remastered World At War Series AKA Eisenhower's Campaign In Europe, that was involved in the Daystar/Fox lawsuit of a few years ago in which Fox lost that case? I've checked the copyright office and other sources and this program under this title, let alone it's distributor does not come up in any database as showing it is copyrighted. Anyone know?

Post 1976 material does not require a copyright notice, it is protected by copyright upon creation.
